April’s Theme:
Block Party
Celebrating Jesus and the Joy that never ends!
Roll out the lawn games, fire up the grill, and start the music. Who doesn’t love a party? And there’s no greater reason to celebrate than this— Jesus is alive! That’s why this month’s theme is “Block Party: Celebrating Jesus and joy that never ends.” Kids can remember that they’ve always got something to be joyful about.
Jesus is alive! And we can’t wait to help you celebrate with the kids in your ministry. When Jesus died for our sins, He reconciled us to God, and then when He stepped out of the tomb, He defeated the power of death. This is the reason that we can have joy, no matter what’s going on in our lives. This was all part of God’s rescue plan that began in the Garden.
Our month begins with the worst day in history, when Jesus was crucified, followed by the very best day: when He rose again! Then we travel along with two friends on the road to Emmaus and experience their surprise and joy when the stranger they meet turns out to be Jesus. We discover the enormous job that Jesus gave to His followers, including us, before returning to heaven. And with the disciples, we witness the amazing arrival of God’s Holy Spirit at Pentecost, sealing the promise that Jesus gave to always be with us, and guiding and helping us every day. In fact, the Holy Spirit is constantly at work in the lives of Jesus’ followers, producing aharvest of joy (along with love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control). Kids will discover that when we lean into the Holy Spirit, we can experience this joy that’s far deeper than mere happiness.

Parenting Resources
We have compiled some helpful resources that parents can use. Many of them are from Orange which is our amazing ministry partner who creates much of our Sunday kids and youth curriculum.
Mental Health issues are on the rise, especially with kids and teens. SEEN - Healing despair and anxiety in kids and teens through the power of connection - is a book put out thru our partners at Orange. Written by Will Hutcherson and Chine Williams, PH.D. We have two copies at the church so get connected with Jim Staniels if you want to read one. Its great info and practices that will help hurting kids even if they are not your kids. If it feels weird borrowing from us, you can get a copy or even a digital copy at the Orange Store.
Anxiety Conversation guides help give parents an age appropriate tool to talk with their kids about the anxiety they feel and see around them.
